Lootbound Map Routes and Risk-Reward Rooms
Plan Lootbound routes and risk-reward room choices with a repeatable decision process based on run needs rather than invented room tables.
How should you choose a Lootbound route?
Pause at the branch and name the limiting factor: weak output, low durability, poor space efficiency, missing synergy, or excessive uncertainty. Prefer the room that addresses that constraint. A route that delays it needs enough upside or flexibility to justify the opportunity cost.
How can you compare two branches?
Score each branch in three layers instead of looking only at its largest reward. The strongest route often has a useful floor and several follow-up options, even when another branch offers a more exciting ceiling.
| Layer | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Immediate value | What important problem can this room fix now? |
| Option value | Does the result keep several future plans open? |
| Failure cost | Can the run continue if the outcome is poor? |
When is extra risk justified?
Higher variance is rational when a safe route is unlikely to create enough power for the next major check, or when the current build has enough redundancy to survive a poor result. It is less attractive when one failure would dismantle a coherent setup.
Use the dice mechanics guide to separate decision quality from the final roll.
How do you build a useful route log?
Write down the alternatives and your reason before seeing the outcome. That preserves the information available at decision time and prevents a lucky result from turning a weak choice into a false rule.
- Record the chosen branch and visible alternatives.
- State why the room matched the current build.
- Record the result without rewriting the original reasoning.
- Separate a poor decision from a reasonable decision with a poor roll.
